Aušra Rutkienė, Dr.

Head of the Department of Education Management and Policy, Vytautas Magnus University

Aušra Rutkienė is Professor at Education Academy at Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), member of a Senate of VMU, Head of the Department of Education Management and Policy, member of board of Council for general education of Lithuania.  She is involved in students’ teaching at BA, MA and PhD levels, in management of MA programme Educational Management and BA programme Primary Education, and research in the field of education.


Professor Rutkienė’s work focuses on educational leadership, teacher well-being, and systemic reform in education, quantitative research methodology and data analysis, mathematics teaching.

Her research explores:

  • resilience, autonomy, and stress among teachers during reform

  • leadership approaches in education

  • institutional transformation in teacher training

  • school community and inclusion

She took part in several European and national programmes and projects (FP6, ERASMUS+, TEMPUS, HORIZON, COST), and was invited as an expert of INESCO IBE. She is producing documents at university and national levels, carrying out studies, organising events to learn from projects and making visible results and findings on national and international levels. Ausra Rutkiene is co-author of several monographs, research studies, textbook, and number of national and international publications.
